Why Northern Voices?

  • Northern Voices is a small educational setting serving young children with hearing loss through intensive small group experiences and integrated large group experiences.

  • This program offers research-based instruction for children with hearing loss as they learn to communicate through listening and spoken language.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Teach children with hearing loss how to listen and use spoken language in implementing the Moog curriculum

  • Create and deliver weekly lesson plans to target speech, language, and auditory goals for each student

  • Administer formal and/or informal assessments to set student goals and evaluate progress ongoing

  • Participate in goal setting/progress report meetings, parent meetings and staff meetings

  • Collaborate with other professions (e.g., audiologists, other staff members) to ensure optimal service delivery

  • Troubleshoot audiological equipment

  • Supervise students outside of the classroom (snack, recess, lunch, etc.)

  • Provide resources and support to parents and communicate regularly during drop off/pick-up, through email and weekly letters

  • Develop and implement behavior plans as needed

  • Discuss lesson plans and student progress with program coordinator

  • And any other assigned duties and responsibilities

Other:

Northern Voices follows a school year calendar. Summer school program availability is determined each year with the opportunity for staff to apply for positions. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. Both compensation and benefit package are competitive.
