Why Northern Voices?

Northern Voices is a small educational setting serving young children with hearing loss through intensive small group experiences and integrated large group experiences.
This program offers research-based instruction for children with hearing loss as they learn to communicate through listening and spoken language.
It is an exciting opportunity for a teacher to work in an environment where you will feel supported by families and staff invested in student success.
Northern Voices follows a school year calendar which is family-friendly for staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Teach children with hearing loss how to listen and use spoken language in implementing the Moog curriculum
Create and deliver weekly lesson plans to target speech, language, and auditory goals for each student
Administer formal and/or informal assessments to set student goals and evaluate progress ongoing
Participate in goal setting/progress report meetings, parent meetings and staff meetings
Collaborate with other professions (e.g., audiologists, other staff members) to ensure optimal service delivery
Troubleshoot audiological equipment
Supervise students outside of the classroom (snack, recess, lunch, etc.)
Provide resources and support to parents and communicate regularly during drop off/pick-up, through email and weekly letters
Develop and implement behavior plans as needed
Discuss lesson plans and student progress with program coordinator
And any other assigned duties and responsibilities

Other:

Northern Voices follows a school year calendar. Summer school program availability is determined each year with the opportunity for staff to apply for positions. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. Both compensation and benefit package are competitive.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Enjoy interacting and working with children during structured activities and play
Present lessons to students under the guidance and direction of lead teachers
Assist with planning and preparing activities related to the theme
Model the lead teacher in implementing behavior management strategies and communication strategies
Supervise children during snack, lunch, recess or in the before/after school program
Provide assistance with toilet training, diaper changing, and bathroom use
Assist with classroom material preparation including filing, duplicating materials, etc.
Organize the classroom at the beginning and end of the day
Assist with daily attendance record-keeping
Assist in the implementation of goals for students and help monitor progress
Attend staff meetings and other required meetings
Participate in on-site training regarding communication strategies for listening and spoken language and training regarding hearing equipment used by students with the expectation to use these skills in the classroom

Early Childhood teachers collaborate closely with licensed specialists in the fields of deaf education and hearing and speech science.
It is an exciting opportunity for a teacher to work in an environment where you will feel supported by families and staff invested in student success.
Northern Voices follows a school year calendar which is family-friendly for staff.
Knowledge of hearing loss is beneficial but not required as on-site training is provided. *

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Facilitate Children’s Growth and Development

- demonstrate knowledge of overall typical development (social-emotional, cognitive, communication, self-help, gross and fine motor skills)

- provide appropriate speech and language modeling and have students imitate your model

Plan and Implement Curriculum

-create and implement developmentally appropriate large group activities aligned with kindergarten readiness

-administer formal and/or informal assessments to set student goals and evaluate progress

Support Parent Education

-provide parents with Parent Aware resources and ensure that the resources are current

-provide on-going communication with parents through weekly letters and scheduled conferences

Participate with staff to Maintain Quality of Program

-meet with the coordinator and staff on a regularly scheduled basis

Support the listening and spoken language goals for students

- collaborate with small-group specialist teachers to share progress, concerns, and questions related to student progress

-participate in Individual Education Planning (IEP) meetings as needed

- assist in the implementation of IEP goals for students and help monitor their progress

Other assigned duties

- take daily attendance and maintains records

-supervise students during snack and recess

-mentor teaching assistants and provide directions for the rules and expectations for large group activities

-provide weekly lesson plans to the coordinator

-complete any other assigned duties and responsibilities as identified

*Applicant is expected to participate in on-site training regarding the audiological equipment used by children and appropriate communication techniques. This knowledge will be applied in the classroom setting by the Early Childhood Teacher.
